Back in the Saddle Again!

WE'RE SADDLED UP FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER!
Remember:
Monday, January 19    MLK Holiday     No School

CONGRATULATIONS, AADI!
Last Friday, Mira and Aadi represented our classroom in the school Spelling Bee. We are so proud of them both. Aadi kept us on the edges of our seats as he won in the final round of competition with other fourth and fifth graders. Soon, he will go to the county as Addison's winner to compete. We all wish Aadi             Good Luck!
EVERYBODY LOVES FRACTIONS!
We are reviewing factors and multiples in preparation for understanding equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. We will then add and subtract like and unlike fractions and mixed numbers. Those multiplication and division facts play a very important role in success with fractions.
Every student should continue to practice regularly!

Words for Sort 20 have been posted at SPELLERZ (CODE UUH953) and at SPELLING CITY.

In Social Studies, we are finding out what it took to build a colony in American in 1607. Jamestown was America's first permanent English colony. We will learn how the English went on to colonize the eastern seaboard and develop the original thirteen colonies. We will focus on the how the differing environments influenced the economy of each region.

In Science, we are learning about light and sound. We are discovering how each type of energy travels through matter. Last Friday in the Science Lab, we conducted experiments to demonstrate refraction and reflection. We also identified opaque, transparent, and translucent materials. We appreciated Mrs. Brown volunteering in the Science Lab to help us.

PARENTS, THANK YOU ALL YOU DO TO PROMOTE YOUR CHILD'S SUCCESS AT SCHOOL. PLEASE CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE DAILY READING, MATH FACT PRACTICE, AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND PRIDE IN ALL ASSIGNMENTS.
